 Diespace

Hyves, Facebook, MySpace, Friendster, LinkedIn – it’s almost a full-time job keeping up with all these online communities, updating your profile, sending messages and uploading your latest best photos. And now tech-theatre group PiPS:lab wants us to join another one: DieSpace. There is one prerequisite though: you have to be dead to join. Because of the fast ‘greyification’ of our society, the number of people dying will be increasing rapidly. And dead people don’t have a place to socialize yet… PiPS:lab jumped at this great business opportunity and created DieSpace: “the first active internet community for the diseased”. Each visitor of their show will get a free DieSpace light account to start out with. So from now on, there’s only one thing to fear after death: whether or not you’ll make enough friends on DieSpace. / Annelies Termeer

 The Washing Powder Conspiracy

PIPS:lab's first big multimediatheatreconcert. This time emphasis is put on live music. Detergent is used as a theme to build songs, absurd scenes and live visuals around.
The concert loosely flirts with subjects as democracy, capitalism, commercials and war.
Images that are recorded on stage, are live poweredited to give it new meaning or it is enabled to be played musically by the musicians.
PIPS:lab challenged itself to make their live video techniques as live and free as for example an instrument is for a musician.
The concert has been tested on crowds since the beginning of it’s creation.

 Boxum

The Rockwell show is translated from a clubexperience to a full theatre-show. The characters (Da Witt and Dude Ernie 2) now have Oscar-winning features.
Boxum
It is in short a combination of theatre, music and an interactive live-recorded videogame (that has been edited but not yet recorded).
The show is build up out of two parts separated by a short musical intermission.
The show starts with a theatrical slapstick live-recording session. The two actors create the material for the videogame, and the photographer creates the lumasol lightgraffities. This is live recorded using the scoretracktechnology to synchronise their movement to the edit-points in the computer. The filmmaterial is then edited in real time. After this short musical intermission the videogame with the two boxers as game-characters is ready to be played. It is an interactive fight in which the audience participates. By beating two boxing training-pads the two boxing figures are controlled, similar to a video game. A blow on a pad is a blow from one of the characters. The hits are counted and after three rounds there will be a winner.
